Alzheimer's/Dementia Care
There are over 100 causes of altered mental status, and the cause needs to be known in order to deliver appropriate care. The approaches and interventions for Alzheimer's disease are very different that those uses for other types of dementia. Only when a proper diagnosis is made can a plan of care be created and implemented that meets an individual's needs appropriately, effectively, and responsibly. Alzheimer's disease is responsible for approximately 60% of cognitive disorders.
Altercare established the Speret Hall program in 1978 under the guidance of members of Alzheimer's disease and Related Disorders Association (ADRDA), the national organization dedicated to enhancing care and support services for both victims and their families. The name "Speret" signifies the hope available through a special place and way of caring for people suffering from Alzheimer's and related dementia.
Speret Hall provides an environment and resources that can help the family understand the behavioral patterns that are common in dementing disorders.
The Speret Hall staff foster a special environment where residents can live more comfortably. Simple daily routines minimize over-stimulation and confusion, and create a sense of belonging, well-being and self-esteem. These are essential ingredients for quality living. (Alzheimer's/Dementia page)
