Altercare of Hartville Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Care has been recognized as one of the 2009 recipients of the Step II National Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association. The award recognizes demonstrated quality performance and continuous quality improvement. Altercare of Hartville is the only 2009 Step II award winner in Ohio, and this year only 25 other rehabilitation and nursing care facilities nationwide received this award.
Facilities that applied for the Step II level award have previously received the Step I level award. At the Step II level, applicants provided a comprehensive description of the systematic approaches they use to continuously improve their customer-focused quality management system.
The AHCA Step II Quality Award is a distinction given to member facilities for applying continuous quality improvement principles, demonstrating success in initiating improvements and measuring results. The award criteria are based on the Baldrige National Quality Award program's core values and concepts, and Step II requires an extensive assessment of performance measures and process results.
