ALTERCARE OF NOBLES POND ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR CHOSEN AS HERO OF LONG-TERM CARE BY OHIO HEALTH CARE ASSOCIATION

CANTON, Ohio - - Teresa Gregg, Activities Coordinator for Altercare of Nobles Pond in Jackson Township, was selected by the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) as its "Hero of Long-Term Care" for the month of October 2011.

OHCA is the state's largest organization representing long-term care facilities, and the organization chooses one long-term care employee each month to honor for their service to long-term caregivers, residents and the community.

To recognize her outstanding contribution to the community, State Senator Scott Oelslager (R-Stark County) visited Altercare of Nobles Pond on October 5th to present Gregg with a special Senatorial Citation.

According to Nobles Pond Administrator Brenda Pedro, "We are very fortunate to have Teresa as our Activity Coordinator. She is truly committed to ensuring the highest quality care for our residents, and her positive and creative approach to meeting each person's social and spiritual needs is outstanding."

Gregg's 22 years of experience can be seen in the wide range of interesting activities available each month. To enhance the facility's busy calendar of activities, Gregg has developed a strong volunteer program, bringing out the best in volunteers including high school students, seniors, church groups and community members.

She is dedicated to the holistic care of residents, and in addition to Activities, Gregg directs the Spiritual Care program at Nobles Pond, focused on meeting the spiritual needs of residents. Sister Joyce Joecken, Director of Altercare's Spiritual Care program, notes that "Teresa inspires, energizes and empowers all who come in contact with her!" Gregg also provides Spiritual Care training to all Activity Coordinators at the other 16 Altercare of Ohio locations.

In addition to her important role as part of the Nobles Pond team, Gregg is active in her church and involves her children in her mission to serve the residents of Nobles Pond with compassion and care. A resident of Massillon, she is a graduate of Kent State University where she received a bachelor's degree in Gerontology.

Gregg will be honored at the OHCA Annual Convention to be held in Columbus is May 2012.
