Cardiovascular Rehabilitation

Cardiovascular rehabilitation is a customized program of exercise and education specifically designed for each patient's unique needs. Cardiovascular rehabilitation helps speed up recovery and reduces the chance of future heart problems. Understanding the condition and how to manage it can increase the patient's confidence in making changes to improve and maintain their health.

Following the patient's acute care rehabilitation regimen, our therapists will create an individualized program directed by a physician to continue the patient's cardiovascular rehabilitation and further them along the road to recovery.

Services Include

  • Exercises specifically designed for cardiac patients
  • Monitoring for a change in symptoms by a therapist, nurse or other health care professional
  • Appropriate slow start to a safe physical activity program that gradually helps build strength and endurance
  • PRE (Progressive Resistance Exercises) that gradually move the patient into a more intensive program requiring them to work longer and harder
  • Strength training, as directed by the physician
  • Monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure

Once a patient has completed the program, they may feel better than ever! Our therapists educate the patient to make the program part of their everyday life.
