Spiritual Care
Meeting the spiritual needs of each resident is an important part of our mission as we seek to provide quality care for the whole person's body, mind and spirit.
Medical studies have shown that having a strong spiritual belief system reduces stress and promotes health, and in times of change and loss, provides a sense of peace and well-being.
Our Spiritual Care Services seek to offer a consistent message of hope across denominational lines and personal faith traditions. Sister Joyce Joecken, CSJ, a certified chaplain for health care, serves as our Director of Spiritual Care Services, and is dedicated to introducing and supporting a variety of programs that nuture the human spirit.
Religious Services
Opportunities for religious support include:
- Non-denominational worship services
- Pastoral Care visits
- Catholic Mass and Communion Services
- Rosary
- Bible study
Connection With Community
We encourage religious congregations to remain connected to residents by:
- Offering residents assistance with contacting their pastor
- Inviting their pastor and members of the faith community to stay in touch through visits, church bulletins, newsletters, and greeting cards
- Welcoming participation in times of prayer and other planned activities
- Involving service and youth groups in facility activities
Refresh and Renew
Our focus is to provide residents with a lifestyle of meaning and purpose. Programs such as music therapy, aromatherapy, gardening, laughter clubs, intergenerational activities, and involvement in local community projects help to renew and refresh our residents.
Comfort and Solace
Our Comsol program is designed to provide compassionate care at the end of life. A comfort cart with devotional materials, music, games, magazines and snacks is provided to families sharing extended visits with residents. Bereavement support includes quarterly Memorial Services attended by residents, family and staff.
