Recently, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced his plans to conduct COVID testing of staff and residents at all Ohio nursing homes. The state’s strategy includes deploying fourteen Congregate Care Unified Response Teams, each comprised of local medical professionals from the Ohio National Guard.

In compliance with recent CMS and CDC guidance on reporting and communication requirements, Altercare will enhance our transparency with residents, families and staff. This new detail will include confirmation of the occurrence of either a single confirmed infection of COVID-19, OR three or more residents or staff with new-onset of respiratory symptoms occurring within 72 hours of each other.

As we continue to monitor COVID-19, we understand how important it is to be transparent with our staff, residents and their family members. Detailed in the update below, are measures taken from the Altercare team since January. These updates include more recent recommendations and guidance by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS).

Altercare Integrated Health Services is continuing to monitor COVID-19 updates and recommendations provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), and local departments of health. As of today, March 11, 2020, Altercare has enacted a No Visitor Policy with limited exceptions. Due to this policy, the Executive Director will monitor requests for visitation closely.
We do not take these measures lightly. Please know that the most important thing we can do is limit the risk of exposure to the residents and staff within our centers.

We are continuing to monitor recommendations and updates from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local departments of health.
We have launched daily huddles and regular physician led planning sessions to address best practices, necessary action steps, and communication surrounding COVID-19. Visitor restrictions have been implemented to protect our residents, and to do our part to support community health.
